Abstract
Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) is the pathogen of gonococcus that can cause serious complications without timely treatment. It is necessary to optimize genotyping methods for further researches into the epidemiology, genetics, and immunology of NG.At present, the genotyping methods are divided into two groups,i.e.traditional,non-DNA-based phenotypic typing methods and DNA-based typing methods.DNA-based typing methods are applied more common, and include gel-based methods and DNA sequence-based methods. The typing results of most gel-based typing methods (except the multiple-locus variable number tandem repeat analysis (MLVA)) are subjective and incomparable between laboratories. Key words: Neisseria gonorrhoeae; Bacterial typing techniques
