Effects of BODE index in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Abstract

BODE index,a simple multidimensional grading system,is better than the only one index in predicting the prognosis of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).BODE index includes body-mass index(B),degree of airflow obstruction(O),dyspnea(D)and exercise capacity(E).Besides its excellent predictive power,it is used to predict the risk of death,survival rate after 1ung volume reduction surgery,hospitalization.Meanwhile,it is used to be a standard of sports maximal Oxygen consumption and estimate degree of patientscondition,curative effects in COPD,etc. Key words: BODE index; Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; Predict
