The study on the development of Professional Self-concept Scale for Nurses

Abstract

Objective To develop the Professional Self-concept Scale for Nurses so as to provide the quantization tool for evaluating nurses' self-consepts. Methods According to the revised edition of Self-concept Scale by TIAN na-xi combined with Professional Attitude Scale for Nurses, the Professional Self-concept Scale for Nurses was developed. 120 nurses were investigated with this scale and the reliability and validity were analyzed. Results The scale shows good content validity, construct validity and coherence (Cronbach's a= 0.87). Conclusions The scale is suitable to evaluate the nurses' professional self-concept and shows better direction. Key words: Nurse; Professional Self-concept; Scale; Reliability; Validity
