Abstract
Objective:To construct a performance rating scale for nurses in tertiary hospital. Methods: Quantitative analysis as well as qualitative analysis was conducted in this research. Based on the results of interview with nursing administrators, nurses and patients , a scale draft containing 47 items was developed and a survey were conducted to select the items . The formal scale was used by 258 nurses who were randomly selected from the tertiary hospitals. This scale's reliability and validity were tested, respectively. Results: 8 factors of mastery degree of professional knowledge and skills, work hard, loyalty to organization , ability of communication and cooperation, scientific research innovation, occupation stuff, work effect ,and complying with regulations were included in the work performance for nurses in tertiary hospital. The Cronbach' α of the whole scale and 8 factors were all over 0.760, and Guttman Split-Half Coefficient was 0.936. The scale also has good content validity, structural validity and discrimination validity. Conclusion: The scale's reliability and validity meets statistics requirements and can serve as an effective tool to measure work performance of nurses in tertiary hospital.
