Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical therapy efficacy of compound glyeyrrhizin in prevention of senile postherpetic neuralgia (PHN).Methods 60 cases with herpes zoster were randomly divided into two groups. The patients in test group were treated with a combination of compound glycynthizin and acyelovir, the control group was treated with acyclovir alone. The time of blister recession, the time of pain alleviation and the time of pain disappearance were observed and recorded respectively. The incidence of PHN was observed a month after treatment. Results There was significant difference between two groups on the time of blister recession, the time of pain alleviation and the time of pain disappearance (all P < 0.05).There was significant difference between two groups on the incidence of PHN (P < 0.05).Conclusion The therapy of compound glyeyrrhizin in prevention of senile postherpetic neuralgia is effective and safe. Key words: Herpes zoster;  Neuralgia;  Compound glyeyrrhizin
