Abstract

The antimicrobial peptides (AMP) are essential components of innate immunity.Human skin-derived antimicrobial peptides mainly include β-defensins and cathelicidins family and they are widely expressed in skin keratinocytes and inflammatory cells.Skin-derived antimicrobial peptides play important roles in skin, such as protecting skin from infection, regulating the immune response of skin, enhancing wound healing and angiogenesis.Their expressions are influenced by many factors in vivo and in vitro and closely related to various inflammatory diseases of skin. They may also play an important role in wound healing of diabetes. Key words: Skin ;  Antimicrobial peptides ;  β-defensins ;  Cathelicidins
