Effect of high-dose simvastatin on serum lipids and carotid artery plaque

Objective To observe the effect of simvastatin with small dose and large dose on serum lipid and Crouse plaque integral in patients with hyperlipidemia and carotid artery plaque,and to evaluate the clinical efficacy of high-dose simvastatin on hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis.Methods Sixty patients with hyperlipidemia and carotid artery plaque were divided into treatment group and control group.Patients in treatment group received simvastatin 80 mg per night,oral; and patients in control group received simvastatin 20 mg per night,the course was 20 weeks.The Crouse plaque integral,lipids and other related indicators were detected by color Doppler ultrasound before and after treatment,the safety of high-dose simvastatin medication was determined by laboratory tests.Results clinical trials showed that Crouse plaque integral and lipid level significantly decreased (P =0.032).Compared with the control group,the treatment group can significantly lower blood lipids,reduce the Crouse plaque score,and its efficacy was better than control group (P =0.021).Conclusions High doses of simvastatin tablets has the effect of stabilizing carotid plaque and reducing lipid levels,and its efficacy is significantly better than control group,and it is safe.
