Abstract

Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of cervical cancer in Ningbo, 2013. Methods The incidence and mortality data were collected from the Chronic Disease Surveillance System of Zhejiang Province. The incidence and mortality were age-adjusted by the Chinese census population in 1982 and the world Segi's population, respectively. According to surveillance principles of Zhejiang Province, Ningbo city were stratified into 3 strata: one urban and rural areas I and ]I. Results A total of 503 incidence cases and 123 death ones were reported in Ningbo, 2013. The crude rate, Chinese standardized rate and world standardized rate of incidence were 17.33 per 100 000, 8.94 per 100 000 and 10.81 per 100 000, respectively, and those of mortality were 4.24 per 100 000, 1.90 per 100 000 and 2.40 per 100 000, respectively. With age increasing, the age-specific incidence was shaped like the reversed letter "U" and the groups with high incidence aged between 30 and 69 years. The mortality of cervical cancer increased with age (Trend x^2 = 87.13,P〈0.01). The incidence and mortality of cervical cancer were higher in type II rural area than that in urban and type I rural area. Conclusions The incidence and mortality of cervical cancer are high in Ningbo. The young and rural women should be the target population of cervical cancer control and prevention. Key words: Cervical cancer;  Incidence;  Mortality;  Standardized rate;  Epidemiology
