PDCA circulation in improving the security quality of pharmacy intravenous admixture service

Abstract
Objective
To investigate the application effect of PDCA circulation in the quality control of pharmacy intravenous admixture service (PIVAS) in our hospital and Guangdong Women and Children Hospital.
Method
The application of PDCA circulation in the quality management of PIVAS in our hospital was carried out according to the Plan, Do, Check, Action procedures of PDCA circulation method.
Result
After 2 years’ continuous improvement, the error rate in PIVAS decreased from 0.193% to 0.027%.
Conclusion
PDCA circulation can significantly reduce the error rate in PIVAS, reduce the potential medical risk, guarantee the safety of patients, and arouse the staff's enthusiasm and the spirit of teamwork.
