Clinical observation of erythromycin and azithromycin in sequential treatment of children mycoplasma pneumonia

Abstract

Objective To explore the efficacy, safety and economy of azithromycin, the combination of erythromycin and azithromycin in the treatment of mycoplasma pneumonia respectively. Methods 116 children patients with mycoplasma pneumonia were randomly divided into group Ⅰ and group Ⅱ . Group Ⅰ was treated with erythromycin by administration with the same dosage. The clinical efficacy and adverse reactions were observed. Results The total efficiency of group Ⅰ and groups Ⅱ were 96.6% and 89.7% respectively and there was no statistical difference between the two groups. The disappearance times of clinical symptoms and signs in group Ⅰ were shorter than that of group Ⅱ (x = 78.86, P < 0.05). There was no statistical difference between the two groups in adverse reactions during the treatment. Conclusions The sequential treatment of erythromycin and azithromycin was more effective than that of azithromycin and the former was safer and more economic.
