Abstract
Objective Observe the effect of the single-visit root canal treatment on chronic periapical periodontitis. To investigate the effect of single-visit root canal treatment on teeth. Methods One hundred and eighteen teeth with chronic periapical periodontitis were randomly divided into two groups. Single-visit RCT group and multiplevisit RCT group. Adopt crown and root fracture of root canal preparation. The cold lateral condensation technique is used immediately in the single-visit RCT group after the preparation and sterilization of root canal. FC is put into root canal several times in multiple- visit RCT. If there are no bad symptoms after further consultation after a week, the cold lateral condensation technique of root canal is used. Observe the pain happening after the treatment of two groups. One year follow-up was performed using X-ray and clinical examination to investigate the different treatment effects on two groups. Results The rate of the teeth pain is 13.6% in the single-visit RCT group while 10.2% in the multiple visit RCT group. The difference is meaningless in statistics(P> 0.05). One year follow-up was performed in two groups. The rate of the successful treatment in the single-visit RCT group is 88.1% and 86.4% in the multiple visit RCT group. The difference is meaningless in statistics(P > 0.05). Conclusion Single-visit root canal treatment chronic periapical periodontitis is feasible in clinical study. Key words: Chronic periapical periodontitis; Single-visit root canal treatment; Post obturation pain
