influence of different method in the nutrition support in patients with mechanical ventilation

Objective To evaluate the effects of nutrition support in the patients undergoing the mechanical ventilation. Methods 60 mechanical ventilated patients were randomly divided into enteral nutrition (EN)group (20), parenteral nutrition (PN) group (20) and the ordinary group (20), EN and PN groups were given the same energy and the same nitrogen, the ordinary group was given the routine intravenous therapy or ordinary diet. Results Nitrogen balance and pro-albumin concentration in EN group was improved,and the difference was significant. The nutrition cost in EN group was lower than that in PN group but higher than in the ordinary group. Conclusion As far as the clinical effects were concerned, nutrition support approach for the patients who were undergoing ventilator ther-apy is very important.
