Nutritional Supportive Treatment for Patients with Mechanical Ventilation

Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of nutritional support on the critical patients and its complications.Methods 68 critical patients with mechanical ventilation were randomly divided into two groups:the group of total parenteral nutrition(TPN)and the group of parenteral nutrition combined enteral nutrition(PN+EN).Cross-check analysis on the conditions and complications of nutritional support was made.Results There were statistical difference between the PN+EN group and the TPN group in the indexes which including nitrogen balance,serum-albumin,haemoglobin,arm muscle circumference(P0.05).The complication,mortality in the group of PN+EN were significantly decreased.Conclusion The standards nutrition support can remarkably reduce the incidence of complications related to the critical patients and ensure to obtain safe,reasonable and effective nutrition support.
