Abstract

As an important nuclear transcription factor, STAT-3 can be activated by numerous cytokines and growth factors such as interleukin (IL)-6, epidermal growth factor (EGF), and so on. STAT-3 participates in cell proliferation, survival, transformation, migration and other biological processes. In psoriatic lesions, almost all STAT-3 is activated in keratinocytes and it takes part in cell proliferation, differentiation and survival of keratinocytes as well as angiogenesis by regulating the expression of psoriasis-related genes and cytokines. STAT-3 is an important signal transduction factor and activator of transcription in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. Key words: Psoriasis;  STAT3 transcription factor;  Signal transducing
