Efficacy and safety of amlodipine combined with atorvastatin calcium tablets in treatment of elderly patients with hypertension and coronary heart disease

Objective To analyze the efficacy and safety of amlodipine combined with atorvastatin calcium tablets in treatment of elderly patients with hypertension and coronary heart disease, in order to provide reference for future clinical application. Methods Eighty elderly hypertensive patients complicated with coronary artery disease from April 2014 to January 2016 was selected as the research objects, they were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the coin throwing method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with nifedipine sustained release tablets, the observation group was given amlodipine combined with atorvastatin calcium tablets, and the blood pressure and blood lipid control, clinical effect and angina pectoris were observed between the two groups. Results Before the treatment, blood pressure and blood lipid of both groups were poor (P > 0.05), after 2 courses of treatment, in the observation group, the blood pressure and blood lipid were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05), the HDL-C level was higher than that of control group (P<0.05), the angina total efficiency of observation group was significantly higher than that of control group (P<0.05); the total effective rate of observation group (97.50%) was significantly higher than that of the control group(77.50%), the difference was significant (P<0.05). Conclusions Amlodipine combined with atorvastatin calcium tablets are effective on coronary heart disease in elderly hypertensive patients, with high safety, and is worth the clinical promotion.
