Thoracoscopy assisted Nuss procedure for pectus excavatum correction in adult

Objective To evaluate the short-term effect and experience of Nuss procedure on 46 adult patients with pectus excavatum.Methods Thoracoscopy assisted Nuss procedure with different ways of anestheia were applied to 46 cases of adult patients with pectus excavatum,including 3 cases of recurrence after traditional surgiacal procedure.The patients'age ranged from16 to 43 (mean,19.1)years and Hailer index was from 3.27 to 29.00.Asymmetric pectin excavatum was found in 18 patients.Results The operation was successfully accomplihed without severe compolications in all cases.The mena oparatice time was 84 minutes and the mean volume of blood loss was 35ml.Thirty-nine patients had one bar inserted while the other 7 cases with more extremely diffuse deprression required 2 or even 3 bars.Such methods as modifications to the fixing ponts and the shape of the bar,partial osteotomy,were developed to deal with asyammetric ones.Condusion To adult patients,thoracoscope assisted Nuss procedure also is a mnimally invasive and safety technique for correction of pectus excavatum.It can lead to a satsfactory outcome and surgical time is less.
