Abstract

Objective To compare the effects of dinoprostone and COOK cervical ripening balloon on labor induction of full term pregnancy. Methods The clinical data of 88 cases of puerperae with labor induction of full term pregnancy from March 2013 to March 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. According to the labor induction methods, they were divided into dinoprostone group (n=46) and balloon group (n=42). Dinoprostone group was given dinoprostone, while balloon group was given COOK cervical ripening balloon. The labor induction effects (Bishop score), delivery modes, duration of labor and perinatal outcomes were compared between the two groups. And the incidences of maternal adverse reactions of the two groups were recorded. Results After intervention, the Bishop scores in the two groups were higher than those before intervention (P 0.05), that is, there was no significant difference in the labor induction effect between the two groups (P>0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in the vaginal delivery, forceps delivery or proportion of cesarean section (P>0.05). The time from labor induction to delivery, the first stage of labor, the second stage of labor and total labor time in dinoprostone group were shorter than those in balloon group (P 0.05). Conclusions Dinoprostone can shorten the labor time and labor process to a certain extent, but it is similar to the COOK balloon to promote cervical ripening. Key words: Labor induction of full term pregnancy; Dinoprostone; COOK cervical ripening balloon
