Clinical effect of endoscopic sinus surgery on chronic sinusitis

Abstract

Objective To observe and improve the effect of endoscopic sinus surgery(ESS) on nasal sinusitis.Methods One hudred and fifty cases of chronic nasal sinusitis were treated by ESS,and follow - up surveyed for 6 months postoperatively.Results It was found that 120 cases (80.0％) were cured,22 cases(14.7％ ) got improved,but 8 cases (5.3％) were failed,and the effective rate was 94.7％.The main complications were intraoperative bleeding and postoperative adhesion of nasal cavity.Conclusions The curative effect of ESS in treating sinusitis is successful.It is effective to clear the ill tissue,treat middle turbinate correctly and clear the operating cavity after operation.It could readuce operative complication and ensure a good outcome for endoscopic surgery.
