Abstract

Objective To investigate the value of pepsinogenⅠ(PGⅠ), pepsinogenⅡ(PGⅡ) and gastrin-17(G-17) in the early diagnosis for patients with atrophic gastritis and gastric cancer. Methods A total of 152 patients treated in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanyang Medical College from April 2014 to August 2017 were selected and divided into superficial gastritis group (51 cases), atrophic gastritis group (57 cases, including 40 cases of simple atrophic gastritis, 17 cases of atrophic gastritis and intestinal metaplasia), and gastric cancer group (44 cases). The levels of serum G-17, PGⅠ and PGⅡ were determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISE), and pepsinogen ratio PGR (PGR=PGⅠ/PGⅡ) was counted. The colloidal gold method and rapid urease method (RUT) were used to determine the infection conditions of Helicobacter pylori (Hp). The serum levels of PGⅠ, PGⅡ and G-17 in these groups were compared. Results The serum level of PGⅠ in atrophic gastritis group and gastric cancer group was lower than that in superficial gastritis group, and PGⅠ level in gastric cancer group was lower than that in atrophic gastritis group (P 0.05). The PGR of gastric cancer group was lower than that of superficial gastritis group and atrophic gastritis group (P 0.05). The positive patients detected by colloidal gold method and RUT assay were defined as Hp positive group (n=21), and the negative patients were defined as Hp negative group (n=27), the serum levels of PGⅠ and PGⅡ of Hp positive group were higher than those of Hp negative group, and PGR of Hp positive group was lower than that of Hp negative group(P<0.05). Conclusions PGⅠ, PGⅡ and G-17 can be used as important serum indexes for screening atrophic gastritis and gastric cancer, and they can provide a powerful basis for early diagnosis of gastric cancer. Key words: Atrophic gastritis; Gastric cancer; Pepsinogen Ⅰ; Pepsinogen Ⅱ; Gastrin-17
