Навчальна дисципліна «Захист прав людини і основоположних свобод в Європейському суді з прав людини» вивчає контрольний механізм Конвенції про захист прав людини і основоположних свобод – Європейський суд з прав людини. Розглянуто взаємозв’язок між Радою Європи, Конвенцією про захист прав людини і основоположних свобод та Європейським судом з прав людини як систему, яка є робочим прикладом регіонального механізму захисту прав людини. Деталізовані також деякі важливі права та свободи, затверджені Конвенцією про захист прав людини і основоположних свобод, а також вплив рішень Європейського суду з прав людини на інші судові органи.
