Abstract

In this paper, we propose an omnidirectional circularly polarized antenna based on substrate integrated waveguide. The proposed CP antenna has a simple structure with a single feed. The antenna can be considered as a superimposition of two circular cavities. Two orthogonal TM 20 modes are then generated to achieve an omnidirectional CP radiation pattern. Parasitical strips are used for impedance matching. The antenna has a 10-dB impedance fractional bandwidth range from 4.29 GHz to 4.38 GHz. The axial ratio (AR) of the proposed antenna is 0.6 dB at 4.31 GHz.
