Abstract
Objective: To explore the effect of psychotherapy on reducing the depressive degree and improving the daily living ability of post-stroke depression patients. Methods: Sixty patients with post-stroke depression were hospitalized in the Rehabilitation Department of Jiangxi Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from October 2018 to April 2019. In this study, patients were randomly divided into observation group and control group by random number table, so there were 30 patients in each group. The patients in the control group received routine rehabilitation treatment, while the patients in the observation group received psychological treatment once a week in addition to the routine treatment of the control group. The changes of scores of Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and Activity of Daily Living Scale (ADL) before and after psychotherapy were compared between the two groups. Results: After 2 months, the scores of HAMD and ADL in the observation group and the control group were lower than those before psychological treatment. The scores of HAMD and ADL in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group after psychological treatment. The difference was statistically significant (t=-17.41, p<; 0.00; t=-5.89, p<; 0.00). This shows that the degree of depression of the patient has decreased and the ability of daily living has increased after psychotherapy. Conclusion: Psychotherapy can reduce the degree of depression and improve the ability of daily living in patients with post-stroke depression.
