Abstract
This entry focuses on various issues related to the use of quantitative methodologies when conducting adolescent research. The general purpose of quantitative research is to investigate a particular problem or topic through the measurement of carefully selected variables in quantifiable terms. Specifically, this entry discusses characteristics of quantitative methods, the general process of conducting quantitative research, sampling techniques appropriate for quantitative research, various quantitative research designs, and ways to enhance research validity.
