Field Evaluation of Compatibility of Insecticides and Fungicides on Rice

Abstract

Compatibility of insecticides with fungicides was studied in rice during to two consecutive years 1997 and 1998. Sufficient disease pressure was not observed during the experimental period. The damage caused by insect pest leaf folder (LF) was significantly lower following application of cartap (50 WP @ 0.05%) alone as well as in combination with fungicides hexaconazole (5 EC @ 0.01%) and propiconazole (25 EC @ 0.025%) as compared to untreated control during 1997. Similarly, tank mixing of insecticide cartap (50 WP @ 0.05%) with fungicides tricyclazole (75 WP @ 0.04%) and carbendazim (50 WP @ 0.05%) did not reduce the efficacy to control the leaf folder damage during 1998. The similar phenomenon was found by tank mixing of insecticides ethofenprox (10 EC @ 0.01%) with fungicides propiconazole (25 EC @ 0.025%) and hexaconazole (5 EC @ 0.01%) in controlling leaf folder as compared to untreated control during 1997. Insecticide triazophos (20 EC @ 0.02%) alone or tank mixed with fungicides carbendazim (50 WP @ 0.05%) and tricyclazole (75 WP @ 0.04%) was found effective in controlling leaf folder damage as well as white backed plant hoppers as compared to untreated control during 1998. They were at par with each other. It indicates that they can be mixed for spraying on paddy crop. In none of the cases, the combinations of insecticides and fungicides, showed phytotoxic effect on foliage. It indicates positive compatibility of the chemicals evaluated.
