This article stresses environmental considerations in selection of refrigerants to replace Chlorofluorocarbons as they are phased out. The topics of the article include a review of available refrigerants and their relative merits for a particular application, other refrigeration technologies, recommended strategies, common chiller situations, and reducing CFC dependence.
