Abstract

Effect of aldicarb soil treatment on the growth and yield of cotton crop was studied under semi-arid climatic and sandy loam soil conditions of Hissar. Aldicarb in the form of 10 per cent granules was applied as side dressing @ 1, 2 and 4 Kg a. i./ha two months after sowing of crop. Soil treatments were found to have positive effect on vegetative grow.h and yield of seed cotton. With the increase in treatment dosages, there was significant increase in the height of plants, number of branches, number of bolls and yield of seed cotton. The increase in yield of seed cotton in treated plots over control plots was 267.6, 565.3 and 872.5 Kg/ha at 1, 2 and 4 Kg treatment dosages, respectively.
