Abstract

Objective:To study the effect of low dose radiation(LDR) on protein kinase PKCα in tumor cells. Methods:Male Kunming mice were randomly divided into five groups: direct tumor-bearing group(DT group) and low dose radiation 1-4 groups. The mice were subcutaneously implanted with S180 sarcoma cells in the left hind legs.On 11 d after the implantation, the mice of LDR 1-4 groups were given 75 mGy whole body γ-ray radiation and sacrificed after 8,12,24,48 h.DT group was sacrificed at 24 h after γ-ray radiation. The PKC α levels of tumor cells were analyzed by immunohistochemistry. Results:Compared with DT group, the expression of PKCα was significantly reduced in the LDR2-4 groups, the lowest in the LDR3 group and that in LDR1 showed no statistical difference. Conclusion:Low dose radiation of 75 mGy can decrease the production of PKCα.
