Observation on efficacy of enalapril combined with losartan for senile diabetic nephropathy complicated by hypertension

Objectives To observe the efficacy of enalapril combined with losartan in the treatment of senile diabetic nephropathy( DN) complicated by hypertension.Methods Seventy patients with DN were randomly divided into observation group( n =38) and control group( n = 32).Control group was treated with losartan based on routine treatment for 12 weeks,whereas observation group was added enalapril based on the treatment of control group for 12 weeks.Results Better effects of decreasing blood pressure were obtained in both groups,but there was no statistical significance( P 0.05).The levels of serum creatinine( Scr)and urea nitrogen( BUN) as well as urinary albumin excretion rates( UAER) for 24 hours in both groups went down significantly compared with treatment before( P 0.01),and those in observation group were markedly lower than in control group( P 0.05 or P 0.01).Conclusions Without increasing adverse reactions,efficacy of enalapril combined with losartan for senile DN complicated by hypertension is precise and superior to application of losartan alone in improvement of renal function.
