Abstract
Objective: To investigate the inhibiting effect of dihydroartemisinin on proliferation of rat mesangial cells in vitro. Methods: Rat mesangial cell line was cultured in vitro, incubating with different concentrations and different time of DHA. Cell proliferation was assessed by MTT colorimetric assay. Results: DHA could significantly inhibit the proliferation of mesangial cells, with a relatively low LD 50, 19.7?μmol/L. The inhibiting effect shows a dose-dependent and time-dependent manner. Inhibition at 100?μmol/L of DHA is the most significant among the different concentrations of DHA (0?μmol/L to 100?μmol/L). And mesangial cells are the most significantly inhibited after 72 hours of incutation with DHA, among the different time courses (0?hour to 72?hours) (P0.01). Conclusion: Dihydroartemisinin could significantly inhibit mesangial cells proliferation.
