Brief Description to the Folk Belief in Linyi Region in Ming and Qing Dynasties

The Ming and Qing Dynasties are the period of formation and establishment of the folk beliefs in ancient China. In the different natural and social factors, the categories of folk belief are numerous and widely distributed in Linyi in Ming and Qing Dynasties. Both the Bixia Yuanjun, Dongyue emperor, Zhenwu emperor, Cheng Huang, and other nature God and the personified god of Guandi, the local Sage and famous officials, also has the worship of dragon, Bala and other disaster of gods. The folk belief is characterized by diversity, geographical broad, general main body; purpose of utility. The folk beliefs play a role in psychological adjustment, social integration and so on, the activities of temple fairs arising out of folk belief also had profound influence on the social life of local people.
