Abstract

According to the measured data,a 2-D numerical model of tidal current and sediment was adopted. Then a large range of tide and sediment field including Jintang channel and a small range including engineering area were established, and the large one provided the boundary condition for the small one.The results show that the current is weakened in local sea area after reconstruction and extension projects, but the whole tide flow field changes little. The flow field changes are mainly concentrated in the west and lagging edge of the wharf, while the change range of velocity is within 13.3%,and the change of current direction is less than 8.3°.Sediment deposition mainly happens in the shoal area near the lagging edge of wharf. The average siltation intensity in the wharf apron is about 0.76 m/a,sedimentation amount is 25 000 m3/a,and the average siltation intensity in barge bed is about 1.42 m/a,sedimentation amount is 59 000 m3/a.In view of the serious deposition of the nearshore shoal, the regular dredging will continue to be required in order to avoid the adverse effect of siltation.
