Abstract

Objective: To investigate the effect of one-appointment root canal therapy in the emergent treatment of acute pulpitis. Methods: 89 cases with acute pulpitis were randomly divided into two groups. Two groups were treated by the one-appointment root canal therapy and the conventional treatment respectively. Results: The rate of success in two groups were 91.3% and 93.0%. There was no significant deference. 4 cases of complicated acute apical periodontitis happened in the one-appointment root canal therapy group and 3 cases in the conventional treatment group.8 cases of complicated pain happened in one-appoitment not canal therapy and 4 in conventional treatment within 24 hours after root canal therapy, all of them were cured by taking prednisone and antibiotic. Conclusion: The one-appointment root canal therapy was effective in the emergent treatment of acute pulpitis.
