Abstract
The tides of the Bay of Fundy/Gulf of Maine, the highest in the world, have fascinated layman and scientist alike for many years. Recent studies and numerical modelling have predicted significant changes to occur in the tidal characteristics of this regime with the installation of tidal dams. The primary goal of the modelling was to try to determine if dams in the upper reaches of the bay would so decrease tidal amplitudes as to make generation of power unfeasible. This paper views the results of these studies from another perspective. It examines their ramifications on the fundamental parameters of hydrography.
