Abstract

This article gives a brief history of the American Association for Health Education's partnership with the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and a description of the current options for institutional and school health education accreditation. The authors explain how standards promote the development of strong teacher preparation programs, discuss state partnership issues, and identify emerging issues related to the accreditation process.
