Abstract
In recent years, thinner Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs) have been in demand, since they are more stylish in their design. Such an LCD often mounts an edge‐lit backlight. However, it is very difficult to simultaneously achieve the properties desired by the user, namely a thin profile, high luminance, high contrast, and a narrow border. Therefore, we propose a novel backlight using multiple Light Guide Plates (LGPs).
