Abstract

In my thesis my purpose is to demonstrate that Emily Bronte's only novel is based on the system of contrasts and parallels in every respect. Proving this statement, I will examine not only the world of Wuthering Heights, but also the quality of the novel's relation to the biography of the authoress, as this factor also considerably contributes to the complete and appropriate interpretation of the novel. On the one hand, my analysis will include the shedding light on the analogies between the Brontean course of life and certain circumstances of the novel. On the other hand, in the main part of my diploma work, I will focus on the revelation of the various contrasts and parallels concerning all the aspects of a literary work /namely the novel's theme, meaning, structure, narration, scene, characters, central motifs and style/.
