Abstract

The writer’s thesis discusses about radical feminism element of the movie, Mulan. Besides that, the writer also discusses the existence of similarity with Kate Millett’s Theory, Sexual Politics. Sexual Politics is basically a belief that suggests and fights for women to have both masculine and feminine behavior so that when women need to do men’s roles like fixing the chair, moving cupboard, or doing men’s work like being a carpenter, they can. But, at the other side, when women need to dress up and look decent for party, they can do it as well. So, the similarity with Millett is Mulan also fights for society with no limitation for women to do men’s roles. Besides that, Mulan wants to change men’s mindset that women are able to do men’s work too. Women can fight. And, women should not be underestimated by men. The writer’s purposes in writing the thesis are to make students who currently study feminism got a better idea of the history of feminism, radical feminism, and so on. Besides that, the writer also wants to promote feminism. The writer wants to persuade thesis readers in a good way to fight for women’s rights too, because the writer feels like people need to understand equality for women’s rights like women empowerment, etc.
