Abstract
In 2009,the sharp drop in demand due to the economic crisis inhibited chemical production in the United States,Canada,Europe and Japan.It also made most of the trade of chemical products contracted significantly.However,the manufacturing industry has begun to adapt to the times of low demand.Chemical companies in 2009 cut cost and reduced the expectation.The capital spending of the American and Japanese chemical companies fell more than 30%,that of the European chemical companies was cut half.American chemical companies reduced their RD investment.The RD investment of European companies was flat or slightly increased.The amount of employees in US and European chemical industry reduced significantly,but the amount of employees in Japanese chemical industry was relatively stable.
