Effect of Intranasal Corticosteroids on Chemokines CCR9/CCL25 Expression in Nasal Polyps

Abstract

Objective:To observe the effect of intranasal corticosteroids on eosinophil infiltration and the chemokines CCR9/CCL25expression in nasal polyps.Methods:Eosinophil count in nasal polyps was done by HE staining and immunohistochemistry SP method.The expression of chemokines CCR9/CCL25in nasal polyps was compared between the groups with and without fluorine fluticasone treatment.Results:Compared with that in the untreated group,eosinophil count was significantly reduced in hormone therapy group.Chemokines CCR9/CCL25expression was also downregulated in nasal polyps with hormone therapy as compared with untreated nasal polyps.Conclusion:Infiltration of eosinophils and high expression of chemokines CCR9/CCL25may play an important role in the pathogenesis of nasal polyps.
