Abstract

OBJECTIVE To observe the effect s of local corticosteroids on the expression of Eotaxin in nasal polyps and the mechanism of corticosteroids in the treatment of nasal polyps.METHODS The SP immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of Eotaxin in nasal polyps before and after treatment with corticosteroids.RESULTS The protein level of eotaxin significantly increased in the nasal polyps compared to the control tissues(P0.01).The expression of Eotaxin was positive in the cytoplasm of the mucosal epithelial cells, the inflammatory cells and the vascular endothelial cells of the nasal polyp tissues. The expression of Eotaxin decreased significantly in nasal polyp tissue after treatment with corticosteroids.CONCLUSION Inhibiting the expression of Eotaxin in mucosal epithelial cells, inflammatory cells and vascular endothelial cells of the nasal polyp tissues, reducing recruitment and activation of eosinophile and relieving eosinophile inflammatory reaction in nasal polyps may be one of the mechanisms of topical corticosteroids treatment on the nasal polyps.
