Abstract

This chapter focuses the dynamic nature of the sport industry, specifically in the professional league sport industry segment and the principles and process of managing change. Students learn that change is both the most daunting challenge confronting management and the most promising opportunity, and that while change threatens to overwhelm the organization on one hand, it can also reveal unprecedented possibilities. Professional league sport has evolved from humble beginnings and is now made up of multimillion-dollar businesses; professional league sport franchises are high-profile organizations that must constantly change and evolve to fulfill their mission and cultivate stakeholder support.
