Abstract

In this study, we conducted a Focus Group Interview on 13 teachers to investigate the teachers' recognitions about the significance of the descriptive evaluation, the difficulty of the descriptive evaluation, and the use of the descriptive evaluation result, and to utilize intelligence information tools to support evaluation. As a result of this study, we proposed the supporting way for successful execution of descriptive evaluation such as the definite meaning of descriptive evaluation, the construction of descriptive items bank including descriptive items, sample answers, scoring criterions, and feedback presentation methods, the construction of a class environment for teaching descriptive items at various levels, and the transition to descriptive items in the College Scholastic Ability Test. In addition, we proposed the way of using intelligent information tools that are predicted to be more active in the future, such as selecting and developing descriptive items, scoring, and providing feedback.
