Abstract
Genetic diversity of 60 individuals from Diqing yellow cattle was evaluated by using 15 microsatellite markers which located on the 15 chromosomes of cattle.A total number of 63 alleles were found and the number of alleles per loci varied from 2 to 6.The number of effective alleles per loci was from 2.0000 to 4.0000.The mean allele number, effective allele number, observed heterozygosity, expected heterozygosity and polymorphism information content were 4.2000±0.8619,3.5529±0.5312,0.9958±0.0161,0.7098±0.0637 and 0.6573±0.0851,respectively.The results indicated that there was relatively rich genetic variation in the Diqing yellow cattle population.
