Consciousness‐Raising Tasks

Consciousness‐raising tasks are tasks that engage learners in thinking and communication about language. They are closely associated with a focus‐on‐form approach to language teaching, in which learners are made aware of the grammatical form of language features. Consciousness‐raising tasks are an effective means of achieving focus on form and of understanding targeted structures. They are recommended as a way to integrate formal instruction within a communicative or task‐based framework. Examples of consciousness‐raising tasks are included in the entry.
