Abstract
The purpose of this study is to classify the types of Deixis: Personal Deixis, Time Deixis and Place Deixis that describe the referent of Personal Deixis, Time Deixis and Place Deixis, and to describe the functions of Personal Deixis, Time Deixis and Place Deixis that are used in Ed Sheeran’s Song Lyrics. The writer takes the data from five song lyrics (Thinking Out Loud, Photograph, Don’t, One, and Afire Love) by Ed Sheeran. In collecting the data, the writer uses qualitative method. The writer uses the theory of Cutting (2002:7) for theoretical framework. The techniques of collecting data study are listening to the music and observing the lyric, reading and selecting the data. In classifying the types of Personal Deixis, Time Deixis and Place Deixis, the writer uses Cutting’s theory about types of Personal Deixis, Time Deixis and Place Deixis.
