Practice of Implementing Standardized Nursing Management in a University Hospital

The aim is to explore the normalized nursing management methods and provide a scientific basis for developing and constructing the qualified nursing teams of university hospitals. Methods: according to the detailed rules for the implementation of the first-level hospital management of Jinan city, we adopt a series of measures to normalize nursing management, such as setting up scientific quality-control systems, completing technical documents and continuing training plans for nurses, improving nursing facilities, strengthening management for emergency drugs and items, introducing new-style nursing materials, learning from other university hospitals, and so on, to establish, complete and implement the detailed rules and regulations term by term. Results: after two-year practice, the perfection rate of rules and regulations increases from 60% to 100%; the assessment rate of business training grows out of nothing, with three-grade assessment rate up to 100%; the two-grade quality-control qualification rate spirals up; other rules all meet with the normalized requirements. In 2017, our nursing department was highly appraised by higher health departments, grading from original 65 to 98. Conclusions: the application of normalized nursing management improves the effectiveness of nursing management, the quality of nursing service, the orderliness among posts, sell-discipline and initiative of nurses. Experience shows that it is necessary and important to carry out normalized nursing management in high-school hospitals, and deserves to be promoted.
