Abstract
Software for mobile phone positioning developed in MATLAB for terrestrial network-based positioning is presented. Software uses radio propagation modelling to precalculate received signal through the whole network and stores this information. This data is recalled when a positioning request is received and used to create a probability map for mobile phone position. The most likely mobile phone position is calculated from this map using averaging and statistical methods over several base station measurements and over a short time period. Positioning accuracy is discussed and current improvement plans are presented.
