Abstract
This chapter discusses how educational institutions and educators should prepare students to become competent digital lifelong learners. Educational institutions should embrace open education as philosophy to create open-network learning environments (ONLEs) to prepare digital lifelong learners with digital self-regulated learning (SRL) skills and personal learning environment practices. Therefore, lifelong learners can transform themselves from self-actualization to goal-realization. To result in highly effective digital lifelong learning, competent SRL skills, effective ONLE integration, and effective personal leaning environment (PLE) practices, as an emerging digital learning literacy, should be taught, integrated, and empowered into any forms of learning. Digital lifelong learners are able to customize, and individualize digital learning environments to accomplish their network-learning journey and to achieve their lifelong needs and goals.
