Abstract
Siti Rahmah Wahyuningtyas, An Analysis of The Non-observance of Leech \nand Grice Maxims and Its Implicature in Bridesmaids Movie. Thesis: Letters \nand Humanities Faculty, State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah, \nJakarta, September 2017. \nThis research is aimed to find out the implicature of the non-observance of \nCooperative Principles and Politeness Principles. The violation of maxims on each \nprinciple results implicature that implied through the conversation. The data are \ncollected from the transcription of Bridesmaids movie written by Annie Mumolo \nand Kristen Wiig. The methodology used in this research is qualitative method \nand also applied for this research Context theory, Cooperative Principles, \nPoliteness Principles, and Conversational Implicature as the main theories. As the \nfindings, it is found that the most common type of non-observance cooperative \nmaxims appeared is flouting manner maxim while the politeness ones is violating \nsympathy maxim. The implicatures shown by the characters in the research is due \nto the different background knowledge among the characters and the social \ndistance among them. In conclusion, the implicature appeared on the utterance \nthat is because of the non-observance of cooperative and politeness maxims, is
