Abstract
The uses of lake altimetry data, and the major scientific interest in lake levels as a monitor of climate are noted. The sensitivity of lake level to climatic change is determined by a number of geographical criteria, and a possible role for radar altimetry in the climatology of lakes is outlined. The likely performance of radar altimetry over lakes is discussed.-from Authors
